UPDATE OR REPORT

Saturday January 21, 2012 SAGE (Special and Gifted Education) and National Autism Association of North Texas presented The Special Friends Talent Show in two shows which played at Plano West Senior High School Theater. Armstrong’s Joel Bethke, a 6th grade Asperger student, was one of the PISD students ‘strutting his stuff’ in the second show. The kids showcased a variety of talents including singing, dancing, playing guitar, dribbling a basketball, and juggling. Joel read a paper that he had previously composed to read to his school classes. It is about himself and his Asperger’s, and he originally wrote it to help explain his behaviors and challenges to his classmates. Each child did an amazing job at the low-stress environment of the show and each was praised and applauded and presented with a medal!
