PISD Swimmers advance to State
The East swimmers had 17 freshman-seniors advance from Districts onto Regionals. They competed this past weekend in the Colony. 100% of the preliminary swims from Friday advanced onto finals Saturday.
The boys team finished 4th overall and the girls team finished 14th overall. A special congratulations is in order for Junior Nick Bergstein and Senior Kyle Yuan. Both boys will be competing in two weeks in the State Championship in Austin. Nick was the Regional Champion in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 56.96 and was the only PISD male to place first in an event. He also broke the school record set by Kyle Yuan last year. Kyle placed 3rd at regionals in the 100 breaststroke. You may remember Kyle qualifying last year but not attending due to his National Science Fair competition. We are very proud of our team and wish Kyle and Nick luck at State. Both boys have the potential of finishing top 8 in the state.
