Elizabeth Kirby started teaching in PISD in 1977 and was named principal of Thomas Elementary in 1982. Prior to 1977, she taught in Dallas ISD. She spent eight years in the classroom, two years as PISD PACE Specialist, sixteen years as principal of Thomas Elementary, and she opened Beverly Elementary in August of 1998.

Ms. Kirby has a Bachelor of Science Degree and Elementary Education Certification from the University of North Texas; a Master of Education with Supervision Certification and Gifted Education Certification from Texas Woman's University; and Mid Management certification from Texas Woman's University.

Mrs. Kirby grew up in Dallas, Texas and went through school in the Dallas Independent School District. After graduation from UNT, she began her teaching career in DISD, where she taught for five years. She and her family moved to Plano in 1975. Her two sons, David and Tom, went through Plano schools. Tom moved to New York City in 1996, where he works for a design company. David moved to Osaka, Japan in 1999, where he taught English for Nova, Inc. for six years. David currently teaches English at a private school in Dallas.

Ms. Kirby and the staff of Beverly have created a learning environment that encourages everyone to strive for excellence. Beverly Elementary has been recognized by the Texas Education Agency accountability system as an Exemplary School each year since it opened in 1998. "I am extremely proud to be the principal of Beverly Elementary. I love to work with students, teachers, and parents. My goal is to work with the staff to create a caring, nurturing, and exciting learning environment which fosters creative and independent thinking, problem solving, and encouragement for life long learning.
