Related to Daffron Elementary School

The Title I program is designed to provide supplemental support to students who have been identified as scoring at or below the 25th percentile on district diagnostics and are at risk of not being successful on state assessments. All students who fail the TAKS test and attend a Title I school, qualify for services. Additional staff positions and teaching resources are funded with the Title I federal grant money. This allows identified students to receive the additional help needed to close their achievement gap.

There are two levels of school eligibility: Schoolwide and Targeted Assistance.

A targeted assistance program serves only eligible children who are identified with the “greatest need” for special assistance.

A schoolwide program permits a school to use funds from Title I, Part A to upgrade the entire educational program of the school in order to raise academic achievement for all students.

Our school is a Targeted Assistance campus.

Title I Parent Involvement Policy

Daffron Elementary School believes that parents (including those who are economically disadvantaged, have disabilities, have limited English, have limited literacy, are of any racial or ethnic background, or are parents of migratory children) are partners with teachers and other staff in the education of their children. Daffron Elementary School believes that parent involvement and empowerment are essential at all levels throughout the school district.
Daffron Elementary School believes that student academic achievement requires that parents have an understanding of curriculum, academic achievement standards, assessments, district/school policies and procedures, and how to monitor their children’s progress and work with educators to improve the achievement of their children.
Daffron Elementary shall work in collaboration with parents and guardians and shall actively support the schools and parents in enhancing parent involvement by:
▪ Respecting parents as partners in the education of their children.
▪ Valuing diversity and the need for equity in each school. ▪ Fostering a welcoming and responsive environment for parents.
▪ Ensuring staff accountability in working with parents as partners at all levels throughout the district.
▪ Valuing the need for partnerships within public and private entities in the community.
▪ Establishing and promoting communication as a source of trust and understanding between the district and parents. Parents/Guardians are asked and encouraged to be involved in their children’s learning and education by:
▪ Taking the initiative to seek the best educational opportunities for their children.
▪ Understanding school procedures and opportunities to contribute or receive support.
▪ Utilizing two-way lines of communication between parents, school staff and the district on the instruction, achievement and conduct of their children.
▪ Participating in training opportunities that will include but are not limited to:
strategies/reinforcing learning at home, discipline, and understanding cultural differences.
▪ Participating in site-based leadership and decision-making. ▪ Volunteering in their children’s schools. ▪ Supporting and engaging in developing partnerships within the community.
