Course Description:
The second semester of English 3 offers students a chance to explore common themes in American literature that have helped shape our thinking today. Students will read To Kill a Mockingbird as well as poetry and expository pieces. In each unit, students will be provided opportunities to demonstrate skills related to research, writing for various purposes and audiences, critical thinking, critical reading strategies, and responding to literature. In the final unit, students will research a topic addressed in To Kill a Mockingbird and create a proposal to solve a problem related to that topic and research. In this unit, students will apply the steps of the writing process as well as make a presentation of their findings.

The novel for this course, To Kill a Mockingbird , will enrich your understanding of the issues for the research paper.
