Watch an overview of the 5th grade Outdoor School Program
Outdoor School is a 3 day 2 night program offered to all fifth grade students in Plano ISD. The school’s principal, fifth grade teachers, parent volunteers, and students all travel by school bus to Collin County Adventure Camp near Westminster, Texas. Classes are held outdoors and students engage in hands-on science and social studies activities which correlate directly to the 5th grade TEKS for the state of Texas.
Students and parent chaperones stay in climate controlled cabins. There are 2 parents in each cabin of 12 students. Parents supervise and lead the students to the activities. The classes are taught by the students’ teachers and YMCA staff members.
