I am so fortunate to have opened Haun in 1997 as a kindergarten teacher. Haun is a fabulous place to work with the best staff, students and parents. I attended Stephen F. Austin State University for my undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I finished my masters’ degree in Elementary Education at Texas Women's University. Throughout my teaching career I have taught preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and sixth grade. This is my 15th year of teaching for PISD. When I’m outside of school I’m busy with my family, but I also find time to travel to the mountains and the beach. I love to snow ski and water ski! I'm so excited to be back for another exciting year at Haun Elementary!
I have had a great experience teaching at Haun Elementary for the past 5 years. I attended Kilgore College for two years and then the University of North Texas and received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Minor in Dance. I also received my Secondary and Elementary teaching certificates. In the last 15 years of my teaching career, I have taught high school, pre kindergarten, kindergarten and third grade. My family includes my husband Mark, Brendon 17 and Garrett who is 15. They keep me very busy along with exercising, volunteering at the High Schools and scrapbooking. I enjoy my team, staff and the wonderful children I teach at Haun Elementary.
My family and I were happy to have opened Haun way back when! All three of my children have successfully made their way through this wonderful school! Of course, I agree that we have an exceptional staff and fabulous families here in the neighborhood. I graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Children and Family Services. My masters’ degree is from Roosevelt University in Guidance and Counseling. This is my sixth year of teaching, all here at Haun, all in Kindergarten! I love it!!! When outside of school, family life is hectic, however I love walking my dog and participating in book club. Here’s looking forward to a spectacular year!
