Hello, my name is Jane Oestreich and I am the principal of Hickey Elementary School. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Central Michigan University, as well as a Master's Degree in Educational Administration and a second Master's Degree in Elementary Education, both from the University of North Texas. I am starting my 16th year working for the district. My husband and I have lived in Plano for 19 years and we have two children who successfully completed their K-12 education in Plano.

Our school song states, "Hickey Elementary is the best school in the world", and that is how I feel about being at this school. We have high expectations for learning at Hickey. I marvel daily about the talented teaching staff, the delightful and respectful students, and the extraordinary families that are at our school each day. Your children are fortunate to have the Hickey staff assist them as they develop lifelong learner and 21st century skills. It is a joy to come to school each day and work with such wonderful students, parents, staff, and community.

Greetings Hickey All Stars!

I am delighted to serve another year as your assistant principal. It is an honor to work with such a dedicated staff, hard-working students, supportive parents, and a caring community!

I was born and raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Musical Arts and Texas Women's University with a Master's Degree of Education in Educational Administration.

I started my career in education in the Dallas ISD where I taught Music and 4th grade. I then worked in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for 5 years where I taught 4th and 5th grade ESL and Gifted and Talented.

My husband, Charles, is also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and a fellow educator. He teaches high school mathematics in the Dallas ISD. I have a wonderful son named Trey who is very active in football, basketball, boy scouts and much, much more! He keeps us very busy!

I have served as assistant principal at Jackson, Barksdale, and Brinker Elementary schools. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or come by and see me. My door is always open to you. I look forward to a wonderful school year!
