It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the new principal of Loreta Hickey Elementary School. I have been honored to become a part of the school community as I have met the students, staff, parents, PTA members, and other community members. I have been impressed with how the staff and parents of Hickey Elementary work together as a child-centered community with high expectations for all learners. The school has a rich history of academic success that should continue this school year and beyond.

Before being named as principal, I proudly served students for the last 15 years as a paraprofessional, teacher, and assistant principal in the Plano Independent School District. My experiences at several schools have assisted in preparing me to team with the Hickey Elementary community to strive for academic excellence and develop students into 21st century critical thinkers.

Lifelong learning is an important skill for students to develop. My formal learning experiences include a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Central Michigan University, and a Master's of Elementary Education and a Master's of Educational Administration from the University of North Texas.

With help from the staff and community, it is my sincere desire to facilitate a school environment that differentiates instruction for students on all levels to help them become the best that they can become. As we strive to make sure all students reach their greatest potential we will work with them by using prior knowledge and experiences to link with new learning and exploration from the curriculum. All members of the Loreta Hickey Elementary school community must work together to help our students mature both academically and socially into productive citizens in our ever changing world.
