Hello my name is De’Cole Kelly. I am exhilarated to serve as the 2011-2012 Assistant Principal at Huffman Elementary. This starts my 12th year in education, 8th year as an Assistant Principal and my 5th year in Plano ISD. Prior to Plano ISD, I worked in the Dallas ISD for 7 years. The first years of my educational career started off as being a substitute teacher at J.L. Long Middle School as I was pursuing a career as a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines. Each time I went to substitute it became harder and harder leaving the classroom. That is when I followed my heart and became a full-time teacher at Thomas West Browne Middle School in Dallas ISD. There I taught 7th grade Reading\Language Arts. My principal noticed my leadership skills and suggested I become an administrator. That is when I enrolled in the University of North Texas and earned a degree in Educational Administration. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. After earning my Master’s I was hired immediately upon graduation to serve as the Assistant Principal at Casa View Elementary in Dallas, TX, where I was an Assistant Principal for 3 years. I am pleased as well as honored to serve the students at Huffman Elementary School for the 3rd time. I was ecstatic when they announced my school for this upcoming year. I was in shock for a second, because I thought it was too good to be true. I love the Huffman families and this community. I am overjoyed that I will be working back with the beautiful children at Huffman. I have one daughter, Brooklyn Kelly, who attends Huffman and a 16 year-old step-daughter, Kourtney Kelly.
