The Title I program is designed to provide supplemental support to students who have been identified as scoring at or below the 25th percentile on district diagnostics and are at risk of not being successful on state assessments. All students who fail the STAAR test and attend a Title I school, qualify for services. Additional staff positions and teaching resources are funded with the Title I federal grant money. This allows identified students to receive the additional help needed to close their achievement gap.
There are two levels of school eligibility: Schoolwide and Targeted Assistance.
A targeted assistance program serves only eligible children who are identified with the “greatest need” for special assistance.
A schoolwide program permits a school to use funds from Title I, Part A to upgrade the entire educational program of the school in order to raise academic achievement for all students.
Our school is a schoolwide program campus.
Title I Teacher
Plano ISD is definitely home to me as I am a proud Plano graduate. I began my career teaching 5th grade in Springfield, Missouri after obtaining my bachelor degree from Southwest Missouri State University. I taught fourth grade for nine years here in Plano, and this is my 2nd year as Huffman's Title I teacher. I graduated with my master's degree from UNT in Curriculum and Instruction. I have two beautiful children, Ashlyn and Caden. Ashlyn, my six-year old, will be joining me as a Huffman Hawk this year in second grade. In my spare time, I enjoy experimenting with digital scrapbooking and spending time with my children! I am looking forward to another exciting year with your students and watching them soar!
