PTA

Memorial Elementary PTA is an organization consisting of Memorial parents and teachers who volunteer their time and talents to organize the various activities that happen throughout the year. The PTA's primary goal is to help families, students and staff members make our whole school the best it can be.

The Memorial PTA is actively involved in our students education. We work to provide the support and resources the teachers and staff need to create a first-class learning environment for our children. We strongly believe in parental involvement in the classroom and encourage parents to join us. Being a PTA member is a great opportunity to become a part of your child's education.

EXECUTIVE BOARD OFFICERS

President: Coordinates work of officers, confirms quorum before conducting business, signs contracts & checks etc.
1st Vice President (Programs): Secures meeting places and contacts all executive members of time & place, plans educational programs for parents & students and aides President
2nd Vice President (Ways & Means): Serves on Budget & Finance Committee, plans ways of financing the work of PTA, serves as chairman on ALL fundraising activities
3rd Vice President (Membership): Promotes an active campaign for membership, secures membership list and retains the list, set deadline for membership campaign in accordance to PISD Council of PTA Secretary: Records minutes of all meetings of the PTA, has current copy of bylaws, maintains a membership list, performs other duties as assigned by president or PTA
Treasurer: Custody of all funds for the PTA, keeps books of account & records etc. for 5 years, makes disbursement as authorized by President, Executive Board based on budget adopted by the PTA, makes regular deposits

COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS

Directory: Compiles all student & school information working with front office staff, appoints a committee to compile required information for directory, have directory printed for membership, distribute directory to membership, mail directory to PTA Council President, District Office President & District Directory Chairman by deadline
Communications (Newsletter): Send out general meetings notices for notifying members of regular and special activities, send necessary information to local newspaper, responsible for “Bobcat Beat” our PTA’s Newsletter
Hospitality: Recognizes teacher of the year nominee, direct hospitality committee, plan and supervise teacher appreciation activities, responsible for committee to meet & greet members & guests at all meetings, provide name tags & refreshments for all general meetings
Arts in Education (Cultural Arts): publicize and promote participation of students in the Reflections Program, plan & implement programs to enhance student interest in arts
Environmental: Organize recycling, roadside clean up, poster programs
Child Safety & Welfare: Promote programs such as McGruff Safe House Programs, traffic safety, etc.
Council Delegate: Attend PISD PTA Council meetings & report findings to Memorial PTA
Historian: President appointed, compile a scrapbook of activities held at Memorial
Parliamentarian: Advise President on procedures & PTA bylaws appointed by President & new PTA board
Room Representative: Organize Grade Level Rep & Head Room Parents to host classroom parties & assist teachers during these functions
Volunteer Coordinator: Solicit & assign volunteers for all areas of service & work closely with school’s volunteer coordinator to ensure volunteers have completed a criminal background check
Yearbook: Find & work with publishing company to compile yearbook, take pictures, find sponsors to organize sale & distribution of yearbook Faculty Representative: Memorial Staff Members who attend all regular PTA meetings and to be liaison between the faculty & PTA

A trusted and fairthful individual, who listens, supports and guides on a consistent basis over a defined period of time.

The T.E.A.M.S. mentor program's mission is to foster a basic sense of self-concept and encourage self-reliance and academic and personal achievement for elementary and secondary students of the Plano Independent School District.

To sign-up/register to volunteer at your child's school, you must fill out an application online. Once the background check has been completed, you will be notified and will be able to volunteer in your student's classroom or be a mentor many of the wonderful students at Memorial.

Welcome to Memorial's Parents and Partners page. Here you may visit the PTA. Our business partners are found in Partnerships. Our business partners contribute in many ways to the successful education program at Memorial. Mentors is a special program of parent volunteers. Mentors assist our school by working with students to help them to greater achievement in such areas as reading, writing, and math. Our many school Volunteers and their special efforts are showcased in their page. The afternoon program Pasar might be something you would like for your child to be involved in providing excellent after school care.

VOLUNTEERS

Have you noticed all of the wonderful volunteers working with our children at Memorial? The PTA has done an excellent job of supporting the staff and students as we start another busy year. We have volunteers working in the classrooms, library and mentoring our students. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at Memorial, you must complete an application online for the criminal background check. This is required for all volunteers in Plano ISD and must be update annually.

PASAR

(Pasar is a Spanish word that means "to pass through to success")

Program Pasar is an after-school program sponsored by Plano Independent School District. It offers after school care services to Plano ISD students grade K-5. This is a fee-based program and no district or taxpayer monies are used as support.

Program Pasar helps the working parent by providing their children the opportunity to work on homework in a structured and peaceful environment, enjoy a healthy snack and experience safe recreational games, activities and play.
