There are always many events happening at Memorial!
Memorial Elementary appreciates the support of Brenntag Southwest for their generous donation for our science fair and math/science night. Our students and their families were able to participate in numerous hands-on activities promoting math and science, as well as taking home extension materials to continue their learning at home. In addition, our science fair had a record-setting level of student participation, adding to the excitement of our event as students showcased their projects for friends and family.
Our fourth graders were the latest benefactors of the Plano Rotary Club and their continued support of our mission to provide excellent education for all students. Fourth grade was treated to a special performance by the Plano Symphony Orchestra in March. Thank you for the opportunity for our students to extend their learning of the arts beyond the classroom.
Our new building is being completely rebuilt with funds from the 2008 bond program and will open in the fall of 2012. The new building, being constructed behind the original building, will provide 77,000 square feet featuring spacious classrooms, library, hallways, cafeteria, and gym.
Student Transfer Process
Students are eligible to attend the school in the attendance zone assigned to their residence. If a parent desires to request a transfer to a different school (or to remain in a school if the family has moved out of the attendance area) a transfer application must be filed. The first date transfer requests will be accepted for students in grades 1-12 for the 2012-2013 school year will be January 2, 2012. The first date transfers will be accept for students in kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year will be April 16, 2012. The deadline for submitting applications is June 15, 2012. On the first dates, January 2 and April 16 only, the transfers will be accepted at the Plano ISD Administration Office located at 2700 W. 15th Street, Plano, 75075. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. on these two dates. After the first dates the forms will be accepted in the office of Student Administrative Services located at 5804 Coit Rd., Suite #102, Plano, 75023 between the hours of 8:00-5:00, Monday through Friday. No transfer requests will be accepted after June 15. Interested parents should submit applications as early as possible within these dates as grade levels and campuses will be closed when limits are reached. A $50 transfer application fee is required at the time the request is filed. On the first dates, payments must be made by cash or check. On other dates cash, check or credit card payments are accepted. The fee may be waived for students who provide a copy of the letter confirming qualification for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program. Proceso de Traslados de Estudiantes
Los estudiantes son elegibles para asistir a la escuela en la zona asignada a su residencia. Si un padre desea solicitar un traslado a una escuela diferente (o permanecer en una escuela si la familia se ha mudado fuera del área originalmente asignada) debe llenar una solicitud de traslado. La primera fecha en que la oficina aceptará solicitudes de traslado de estudiantes en los grados 1-12 para el curso escolar de 2012-2013 será el 2 de Enero 2012. La primera fecha en que la oficina aceptará solicitudes de traslado para estudiantes en kindergarten para el curso escolar de 2012-2013 será el 16 de Abril 2012. En las fechas de Enero 2 y Abril 16 las solicitudes serán aceptadas en las Oficinas del Distrito localizadas en el 2700 W. 15th Street, Plano, 75075. Los días siguientes de estas fechas las solicitudes serán aceptadas en la oficina de Student Administrative Services localizada en 5804 Coit Road, Suite 102, Plano, 75023, entre las horas de 8:00-5:00, de Lunes a Viernes. No se aceptarán solicitudes de traslado después del 15 de Junio. Padres interesados deberán hacer las solicitudes de traslado lo más pronto posible dentro de estas fechas ya que los distintos niveles de grado y las escuelas se cerrarán cuando se alcancen los límites de estudiantes. Se requiere un pago de $50 por cada solicitud de traslado en el momento que se presenta la solicitud. En las primeras fechas se puede pagar con cheque o efectivo. Los días siguientes se podrá pagar con cheque, efectivo, o tarjeta de crédito. El pago se puede suspender para estudiantes que presenten una copia de la carta que confirma que están calificados para el Programa de Almuerzos Gratis o a Precio Reducido.
