All of us at Plano East want to assist in making certain that every senior successfully meets all requirements for graduation. We ask that parents contact teachers immediately if you feel your son/daughter may be having difficulty in any classes. We strive to have “no surprises” regarding our students’ graduation status so please stay in close communication if you have concerns.

Commencement Exercises The Class of 2012 will hold its commencement exercises on Monday, June 4, at 9:30 a.m. at The Dallas Convention Center Arena. Because of limited seating capacity, each graduate will be issued only six tickets for family members and guests. There will be no reserved seating so an early arrival is advised. Graduates are expected to be at their place in line at The Convention Center by 8:30 a.m. and may not have any personal items (cell phones, cameras, purses, etc.) in their possession at that time.

MANDATORY Graduation Rehearsal will be held in the Plano East gym on Thursday, May 31 from 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. Graduates must attend rehearsal in order to participate in the ceremony.

Distribution of Graduation Tickets - 6 per graduate – Seniors must pick up their own graduation tickets (no parents please) on campus Friday, June 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, exact location to be announced at a later date. Only seniors who have passed all sections of the Exit-Level TAKS and all courses required for graduation may participate in the commencement exercises. Receipt of tickets does not guarantee participation since grades for all exams will not have been posted at the time of distribution. Students must present a photo I.D. and sign for receipt.

Attire Plano East black cap and gown with black and gold tassel are required for participation in the graduation ceremony. Girls are expected to wear dresses with appropriate shoes. Boys are expected to wear dress trousers, dress shirts, ties, and appropriate shoes and socks. Athletic shoes, combat boots, and beach sandals will not be allowed. Students must be properly attired to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Cap, Gown, and Announcements Jostens is the 2012 supplier of caps, gowns, and announcements, and has been on campus several times this year to take orders. Jostens will be delivering caps, gowns and announcements on March 22 from 11:30 to 5:00. If your student still needs any of these items, please contact Jostens directly at 972-612-5873. There is also a website on which students/parents can place orders – it is www.texasgradshop.com.

Professional Photography Flash Photography will photograph each graduate and mail proofs at no charge within a few days of the ceremony. Contact Flash at www.FLASHphotography.com if you have questions.

Professional DVD GradMemory will produce a DVD of the ceremony, personalized with your student’s name and picture on the cover. Please contact them at 866-977-GRAD or www.gradmemory.com.

Outstanding Fines Graduates will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony if they have outstanding fines. For book fines, see Ms. Perrine in B2-105 or call her at 469-752-9025.

Final Transcripts Seniors, it’s time to order final transcripts. A final transcript must be sent to the college you will attend in the fall, to Collin College if you plan to attend there in the summer and/or fall, and to the NCAA Clearinghouse if you are registered with them. Complete a signed “Final Transcript Request Form” in the Registrar’s Office for each final transcript you want sent. Each transcript is $2.00. Final transcripts will be mailed by July 6th.

Diplomas Actual diplomas will not be given during the ceremony. Graduates are encouraged to pick up their diplomas in the Plano East cafeteria on Tuesday, June 5 from 1- 4 p.m. If graduates are unable to return on Tuesday, they may pick up their diplomas in the Registrar’s Office during the summer. Diplomas will not be mailed. Graduates must have a photo ID to receive their diplomas. Students will not be allowed to pick up friends’ diplomas.
