Peggy Bridge (Reading Specialist)
Peggy Bridge graduated in 1999 from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. In 2003, she received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Reading and Literacy. Before moving to Texas, Mrs. Bridge taught 2nd grade for four years in the towns of Hagerman and Chaparral, New Mexico. This will be her twelfth year teaching at Rasor, having taught First, Second, and Fourth grades. When she isn't working, Mrs. Bridge enjoys spending time working on paper crafts, like making cards and scrapbook pages, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Mereena Parikh (English as a Second Language Specialist)
Mrs. Parikh was raised in Lubbock, Texas. She received a B.S. in Biology and Master’s in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University. She has been teaching at Rasor since 2000. She wants to help students learn new things to broaden their horizons and knowledge. She has a passion for learning and hopes to pass it on to her students.
Lynn Swartzendruber (Math Specialist and Title 1 Math)
Lynn Swartzendruber graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Goshen College in Indiana. She taught third and first grade in northeast Ohio for five years. She and her husband spent a decade in England and Germany while raising their two daughters. In Munich, Germany, she taught English as a second language in a number of international companies. She taught third and fourth grade for 12 years at Mathews Elementary before coming to Rasor. She has a passion for math and has loved being an integral part of the Rasor family for the past four years. She believes, “Do math and you can do anything.” National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Kathy Braffman (Literacy Specialist and Team Leader)
Ms. Braffman is the Instructional Specialist at Rasor. She grew up in Saint Louis, Missouri. Kathy earned her Bachelor Degree from Fontbonne University in Elementary and Special Education and her Masters of Education in School Psychology from The University of Missouri-Columbia. She has taught students with learning disabilities, acted as a diagnostician, and taught children in grades K-5. She has been teaching at Rasor Elementary since 1996. As the Instructional specialist she hopes to build a love for learning and passion for literacy
Melissa Smith (PACE)
Ms. Smith grew up in Louisiana and West Virginia. She received her Bachelor degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana Tech University and her Master of Education from Southern Methodist University. She previously taught in Richardson ISD. This is her fourth year as a Rasor Rocket, and she is excited about working with the Rasor students. As the PACE Specialist, she encourages all students to think with creativity and depth.
