Mission Statement:
Plano ISD (Library Media Services): The mission of Library Media Services is to ensure that literacy remains a vital part of every student’s continuous learning experience.
The mission of the Vines High Library is to promote life-long learning and literacy through exposure to print and electronic resources and digital media in a collaborative learning environment.
Library Fine Policy
The Vines High Library does not charge fines for overdue books. This policy goes into effect with the start of the 2012-13 school year.
Library Book Club
There is strong interest among the student body for a book club each year. The library is happy to sponsor the club. The goal of the book club is to meet once a month in a relaxed environment (the library) to discuss books. The books are self-selected by the students and cover a variety of genres and Dewey sections in our library. There are no dues for being a part of this club and we meet during lunch so our members do not worry about getting to school early or staying late. We perform one service project a year – a book drive, of course! All proceeds go to the Friends of the Plano Public Library or to the Plano Retired Teachers’ Association’s “Gift a Book Program.” Students, consider joining. We always have loads of fun!
The fall semester book club scheduled meetings are as follows:
September 13th Welcome and Introduction
October 4th – Favorite genre
November 1st – Favorite author
December 6th – Book Drive Preparations
Dec 10 – 14th – Book Drive
December 20th – Social; After Final Exams end
